Infectious Diseases Recognised Research Group (ID-RRG) The ID-RRG is one of seven active Recognised Research Groups which are funded by The Northern Ireland Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS). Core funding for RRGs is provided by the Health and Social Services Central Services Agency, through the Research and Development Office. RRGs provide a regional framework to promote, co-ordinate and support specific research and development activities across Northern Ireland. The RRG system enhances good quality research, while creating a more vibrant research culture, with increased multidisciplinary working and co-operation between many research groups throughout the university and healthcare sectors in the region. The ID-RRG exists to interlink research and development work across a number of intersecting themes in the infectious diseases area. The work of the ID-RRG is focused on supporting basic and translational research across and between three broad areas: InfectionPathogenesis : Antibiotic resistance mechanisms : Pharmaceutical development : Surveillance : Biofilms : Zoonosis Immune ResponseHost response mechanisms : Receptor function : Immune cell trafficking : Vaccine development Clinical PracticeDiagnosis : Treatment : Vaccine use : Surveillance & epidemiology : Antibiotic use : AMRAP : Nosocomial and ICU infections |
